Take a look at http://www.allelec.com/ Alltech Electronics for
stuff for your IIe. For example, a 500MB hardcard internal HD
with software for $79 USD. Then there's 1MB of memory
expansion. They'll throw in AppleWorks for a little more.

The Micromodem does not connect to the SSC. I recommend
finding a cheapo used 14.4k external modem from a PC and
connecting that to the SSC. Sorry, I do not know the DIP
switch settings. Once you get the settings right, just use a
PC modem cable plus one gender changer to connect the
SSC to the 14.4k modem. For software,
http://www.intrec.com/ Intrec sells ProTERM 3.1 for the
Apple II. You get zmodem plus a host of other protocols
and VT100 plus a host of other emulations.

Yes. I don't know much more about it. It is not Hayes
AT compatible so it does not work with many IIe terminal
packages.

There might be one in the library of software on the Focus
hardcard from http://www.allelec.com/ Alltech Electronics.
Or you can buy a commercial program, ProTERM 3.1 for
the Apple II, from http://www.intrec.com/ Intrec.

The extra 64k is used in IIe software that supports it and
by the ProDOS operating system. AppleWorks, for
example, uses the full 128k as does Publish-It!, GEOS,
and Springboard Publisher. And almost every other
IIe aware ProDOS program. To activate 80 column mode,
type PR#3.

I highly suggest getting the Focus hardcard from
http://www.allelec.com/ Alltech Electronics. Or if you
prefer floppy disks, just grab AppleWorks plus ProDOS
drom them.
