USB to Parallel converters

Hi,

I am interested in changing from an IBM type machine to an apple, either a
G4 or maybe one of the DV iMacs. 

I is there any way to use my existing HP DeskJet 720c printer? I have seen
USB to parallel adapters, so I was thinking 

[printer (parallel)]       to     [parallel to usb converter]     to     [
Mac (USB)]

Has anyone tried this? 

Any info would be appreciated!
