     Everyone agrees that the old out of print commercial software on Asimov
belongs to the copyright holders; and, Asimov has a standing offer to remove
software if requested by the copyright owner.

     So far, very very few copyright owners have had software removed.
Really, why should they? For any company still producing software (or any
programmer or artist involved), having users play their old Apple II games,
use their old 'creativity software', etc. is great free advertising.

     If copyright owners are willing to have their property available for
downloading on Asimov or Emulation Net or wherever, then that's that. Whether
or not you own an original does not matter.
