IIc LCD Screen on a IIGS?
Has anyone tried this or know any reason why it wouldn't work? I certainly
wouldn't want to ruin such a rare piece of equipment.
Why do it anyway, right?
To save on weight. The Apple II SIG of my Apple Computer club is using one of
the member's personal IIgs computers and has to haul out everything that we
need for the meeting. We're an enthusiastic group, but none of us is getting
any younger and the monitor is the heaviest element in the IIgs system.
Our club IIgs was stolen a few months back, along with the homemade cart/wagon
to haul all of its parts in one trip from the college's parking lot, across
campus, up to the second floor and down the hall to an empty classroom. WHEW!
We had a workable system, but with the robbery and the college now expanding
its weekend swap meet to the entire front parking lot, we're force to haul the
IIgs, monitor, drives, overhead LCD display, etc. from the parking lot on the
other end of campus. Yes, we've considered running programs just using the
overhead LCD panel, but it's too hard on the presenter. The high point of our
meeting is usually AppleWorks, so an RGB monitor's capabilities often goes to
waste.
