No, this is not correct, no violation of copyright occurred. By posting to
usenet you gave each other implicit permission by circumstances to
quote each other. There is no violation of copyright when permission
is given. You could also claim fair use which allows works of prose
with 2000 words or less to be copied in their entirety. This is spelled
out specifically in (U.S.) copyright law.
