Software for an older Mac Modem

I don't know about the _MC_ designation but I have used a PP "minitower"
model PM144MT II for several years on my A2e with a Apple Super Serial
card and ProTerm 3.1; Initialized as Hayes Smart Modem V9600 (RTS/CTS),
Init String as ATS95=46.
When streaming downloads, ie, messages from groups like this, I sometimes
have some data loss but @ 14.4k (bps rate @ 19200) that's to be expected
on a A2 (not a gs). I've never had a problem dl-ing files w/ zmodem and
in special conditions have had dl rates approching 4000 cps.
