Re: Prosel 3.8 & No-Slot Clock

This is a common problem. It has nothing to do with ProSel 8 specifically, but
it's seen in a variety of programs which calculate the day of the week. Since
the ProDos date has only 2 digits for the year, the programmer must adjust it
to return a 4-digit date. Usualy, 1900 is added to the YY, making the year
1900, where January 1 was a Monday (not sure why you're getting Friday).

Then there's that other thing in the DOW calculation where if the month is Jan
or Feb, add 12 to the month and subtract 1 from the year (hard to do if the
year is 00).

Here's what to do: For ProSel, try setting the date to March 1 00, or any day
after that. If the DOW is correct after March 1, 2000, then you will only have
the problem for 2 months. Rather than updating ProSel, try to live with it.

On the other hand, since you are using ProSel 8 v3.8, I recommend that you
update to ProSel-8 v4.0 with the Y2K fix for Mr. Fixit v4.6. This can be
downloaded at http://members.aol.com/A2MG, or I can mail you a disk. The Y2K
fix for Mr.Fixit is very important, and you should make sure you have it before
January 1.

Each ProDos program which calculates the Day of the Week will have to be looked
at individually. I am currently working on UltraMacros (AppleWorks 4/5.1
version only) for this very same problem.
