In the US, certain cars are classics. For example,
the original Volkswagen Beetle from your country
or the famous Ford Mustang. And yes, you'd be
surprised at how many old Beetles have shiny new
engines hanging out the back! It is just the hacker
spirit.

I use both my Apple stuff and my PC. I really believe
that unless an Apple item is "mint condition," it
really should go into the hands of those who plan to
use it. Besides, collectors usually like the "new in
the box" stuff. For example, if I see a new in the
box IIGS, I'd grab it and wait a decade or so. Look
at what happened to original Apple IIs. The beat up
ones in schools, they sell for a few bucks each. But
the "new in the box" mint condition collectable ones,
THOSE are the ones that go for $600 on eBay!
If a Profile is dead (as in dead logic boards or fried
mechanisms), it is going to end up like the school
beat up Apple IIs, NOT collectable. In that case,
why not put them to use?
