I'm no unix expert and I've never used rz or sz before but are you
using the right command? Maybe sz on the server is expecting you to
upload a file from the IIgs to the server and because you never sent
the server a filename, that is why you got the timeout error that you
mentioned above.
Try using rz and see what happens.
Another thought hit me while typing this. Do you have Spectrum set up
to automatically start ZModem transfers? This can be set in the
Settings/Options Menu.../Receiving Options... dialog. With this set,
after you type "sz test.txt" or whatever, are you getting some text on
Spectrum's screen and does the file transfer dialog box appear? If
not, then I would say my suspicion above is correct.
