There are lots of PC models out there that come preconfigured and the
warranty states that only certified technicians are allowed to open
the case or do any work inside the machine.

These are usually the name brand models like Dell, Compaq, Gateway,
Acer and the like.

Then there are people who are leasing their computers.  Their lease
agreement also says they aren't allowed to open the case.  Any work on
the machine must be done by the company that is leasing the computer.
