Which country are you in? (Ah, Australia, I just saw the real email address)
The Apple IIe outputs very-nearly-not-quite-completely-standard NTSC
composite video. Here in New Zealand we use PAL, but the platinum IIe I used
to own was NTSC (did Apple ever make a PAL version of the platinum IIe?). A
few years back I tried it on two different TVs with international receivers
i.e. PAL or NTSC, 50 or 60Hz. Neither would display anything apart from a
black and white picture. This may have been a combination of Apple's
mostly-NTSC and shortcuts in the 'international' receivers.
