If you told them you had a 900 block on your phone line they would help you for
free.

The big problem (so I am told) with AE boards is that damaged ones have
proprietary chips. Has anyone ever gotten around the problem and repaired AE
boards with proprietary chips (i.e., the z-ram ultra2 that is hanging on my
office wall in memoriam)?

AE made wonderful products. It (and Prosel) changed the way I thought about
Apple II.
