Decision<s> on GEOS...<?>
Ok, I've finally decided what to do. Since people have expressed interest
in it and I've been 'sitting on it' because I don't want to tromp toes or
be a pirate, I've been trying to think of a solution to this...and I
think I have.
If you have a copy of GEOS and would like to either
a> easily copy it to a HD and/or
b> run it off a 3.5" DSHD disk in your superdrive...(both of these are
wonderful for mac LC IIe card users, a nice GUI for your IIe card ready to
run without needing all the 5.25 disks, or IIgs users with a Superdrive
card (or even IIe I guess)) or, I guess, run it off of 2 DSDD disks
(though this will take me time to do since it's not the way I have it set
up), here is what you do...
1>email me
2>prove your ownership of GEOS in some way (I may relax this one,
depending...<and who am I to determine who is 'allowed' to have it? <sigh>
such decisions>...but I guess a picture of part of your GEOS materials
would be worthy, if not the manual cover, then disk#1...if all you have is
a copy then, well, sorry)
3>I will send you a disk image of GEOS that has had the GEOS Kernal
removed. (GEOS will not load or boot without this, obviously)
4>Load up your copy of GEOS in the 5.25 drive and the new disk in your 3.5
5>Copy over your GEOS.KERNAL file to the 3.5 disk, thus preserving your
unique personalization and also requiring that you in fact own a copy of
GEOS.
Well. I guess you could have a pirated copy. hmmm. <thinks> Well, ok, I've
asked on this before, anyone who isn't sick of this topic step forth and
tell me what you think, honestly. If it's still shaky logic and still
dodgy in terms of copyright stomping, tell me. Oh, and don't ask me to
send the full version or image to you. I've decided against that. And,
well...I'm asking you not to "fix it up" yourself and upload it to your
favorite Apple II warez site...there is no way for me to stop you, but
just...well, don't...ok?
<I think I could tag the copies so that I'd know who did the deed, but how
would such information serve in any way other than aggrivate me? ah well>
Oh, yes. And if you have the first version of GEOS for the IIe, this will
not work for you, sorry.
