IIgs on the Internet

I am using an Apple [NOT A MAC] IIgs and I have a PPP
account. I logon using the Terminal Control Program (TCP)
ANSITerm which connects me in text baised service, - OK fine.

I have a program "MARINETTI" (TCP/IP) which dials and
establishes a PPP connection, - OK also fine.

The only "Applications" program with Marinetti is
their version of "TELNET". Once I am connected and have
  Telnet running my options are:
                  [C]onnect, [D]isconnect, [R]econnect
                  [T]elnet to location
If I choose www.lafn.org I get a connection and proceed to
the "login" where-upon I enter my user I/D and get the
"password" which I enter with my valid password.
there-upon I am presented with the message:

                  No home directory
Logging in with home = "/"
                  Permission denied

and thats the end of that, I am back at the Telnet menu, but
  still connected via PPP.

When I choose another location other than lafn the
  response is:

          Enter domain name: www. s o m e t h i n g (valid)
          Looking up domain. ... Found

          Network error $8001
          Host unreachable

and that is the end of that.

Anybody out there got any experience with Apple (NOT
A MAC) IIgs systems and Marinetti and or know of any programs
which will allow me to stay with lafn and still use my IIgs ?
