A few comments...

The Telnet application that is included with Marinetti allows you to log on
to remote sites on the net, after first dialing up and establishing a PPP
connection. So, if you have Marinetti set up properly via its configuration
options, and you actually establish a PPP connection, then Marinetti has
done its part and is working fine.

Once the connection is established, then you can use Telnet to telnet into
your lafn.org account. The problem you have is that you're trying to telnet
to www.lafn.org, which is a web site. Try Telnet'ing to lafn.org, and you
should see a familiar login prompt.

BTW, the latest issue of Shareware Solutions II (Volume 4, Issue 4) has an
extensive article on Marinetti, and provides step-by-step info on using all
of the various Marinetti aware applications released to date. It's the most
comprehensive article about Marinetti that's ever appeared in any Apple II
newsletter.
