The Scribe uses a thermal transfer ribbon. Gives a very good quality of
printing, almost like a laser printer, but the ribbon is one pass only.
Once you get to the end of the ribbon it has to be replaced. Even worse
is the color ribbons were laid out with the four colors repeated on a
ribbon. If you called for the colors in the wrong order the ribbon would
advance to the next area on the ribbon for that color and any part of the
ribbon that was passed over was wasted.
