Focus Drives..partition information

Can anyone offer detailed information on how Focus controlled IDE drives
are partitioned with FocusFormat. I'd like to be able to take the 2.5" drive
I have, move it into a PC running linux which has a 2.5"->3.5" adaptor
and write the neccessary code to be able to read the partition table and
access the filesystems. Basically a quicker solution to transfer files
to and from the larger HFS filesystem I have between my linux box and
the IIgs. 

If anyone can offer details, insights, etc, I would really appreciate it.
