GS and weird HD problem...
Hi...
Just got a GS, system 6.0, 1.75 megs ram, Apple SCSI card...
had a Quantum LPS 240 lying about, it became the next project...
Installed the hardware (plugging in a cable basically)
Apple SCSI utility disk found the drive...partitioned it...
Two partitions of 32 megs each.
(Prodos only recognizes 32 megs, right? With two devices on the card?)
used Advanced Disk utility to format it, and install the OS
When I reboot, I get 14! (fourteen!) instances of hard drives on the desktop!
With messages like "Volume Quantum1 exists, eject or rename" yada, yada,
multiple times...if I click "eject" the dialog box goes away, and some
progress is made...
However, If I rename, and let the os just tag an extra digit on it, then I get
an instance of "Please insert disk xxxx" when disk xxxx is mounted.
Formatting a 3.5" floppy, also causes an instance of duplication on the
desktop...
Clicking "eject" has only effect on the current session, the problem
re-surfaces after re-boot...
I'd really like to work with this machine...
can anyone help? Please?
(this one has me stumped...installed SCSI devices on Macs and PC's without any
hitch...)
Thanks!
Bill
What am I doing wrong?
