2GS Appleworks database transfer
I have a 2gs that was used by a family member to compose several AppleWorks
databases in the late eighties. These have now come to me, and I would like to
tranfer the data to format recognizable by my PC for conversion into another
database (either Access or ClarisWorks).
My questions are these:
1) If I made a delimited text version of each database onto a 3.5 floppy and
found someone with a GS system connected to the Internet, could they attach
this text file to an email so my PC could use it?
2) Is there anyone out there with a internet-capable 2gs system that is
willing to help with this project? Or, anyone who offers this service for a
fee? I don't feel I have the technical knowhow or resources to connect my 2gs
to a network, especially for only one session of data transfer.
In case you are wondering, these databases contain information on South Dakota
postal history; post office names, dates, locations, etc. I could still use
them in their current format on my 2gs, buy wish to share them with other
historians. Converting them would make a number of people quite happy and
clear the space of one computer in my office.
Thank you in advance for your responses,
Byron Reed
