Re: Cassette Port?

This port is used to save and load programs from cassette tapes. From what
I understand, the process of loading software from cassettes on the IIe is
very difficult and is normally avoided - yet it does provide an inexpensive
way to store data. Creative users have also found other creative uses for
this port.

Though, if memory serves me correctly, Woz managed to develop the floppy
drive expansion for the introduction of the original II. For an account of
the development of the Apple II, I suggest the book (by Levy): "Hackers:
Heros of the Computer Revolution". There is also a history of the Apple II
computer on hypermall (?).

BTW - I/O stands for input/output, and is a generic term used for any
peripheral which supports both input and output.
