TranswarpGS fault finding

I've just got hold of a IIgs with a TranswarpGS card in it which seems
faulty.
It turns out that the processor connector which plugs into the
motherboard processor slot had some bent pins which proceeded to break
off when I tried straightening them.
So... I replaced the broken pins crimped the cable back on and plugged
the card back in. Now I get a mostly black and white checkerboard
pattern on the screen (and no startup 'boink').
If this reminiscent of any standard Transwarp problems??
I am aware that the processor chip used in the production run get a
little flakey and may need replacing (in fact I'm thinking of up-ing
the card to a 14MHz chip in any case) - is this the type of error one
might expect if the processor had gone bad??
I will be receiving a Transwarp card which works in the next week or so
- thus I will have some components to swap and see which bits are
faulty in my current card.
But if anyone has a suggestion in the meantime - please let me know!
TIA,
Justin.
