Re: Found a Vulcan HD!

It is an IDE drive and controller, however the controller is hard coded to
the drive. With Applied Engineering gone, the only real way to upgrade is to
change the controller . Either with an IDE controller from ///SHH Systeme or
installing a SCSI drive and using a controller such as the RamFast.
Even without upgrading it's a fairly speedy drive & controller that
outperforms some SCSI cards. If you have a Vulcan Driver that speeds it up
even more. If you have a slow HD & controller you might consider using the
Vulcan as a boot drive. Also it's got a fairly heavy duty power supply.

HFS? I like it and use it but a number of people have had problems and lost
data. So far I've been lucky but I've always been strong on making backups.
With prodos there are a lot of disk management and repair utilities as
opposed to nothing for HFS. Another item to consider is that you can only
boot GSOS programs off a HFS partition and an occasional one of those won't
recognize the HFS partitions. I prefer to use 5 prodos and one HFS partition.
