Well, I do indeed have access to the FAQ's, in fact I downloaded them
all to my PC for reference, and they have come in handy. However, by
writing extensively to this newsgroup I feel that I am serving a
number of purposes...
In writing articles about my current experiences with getting my Apple
going, it crystallizes all the information better and faster in my
memory than just reading FAQ's, and it was a lot of stuff all at once
I needed [and wanted] to know. Specifically: the FAQ's were
supplemental, not the newsgroup thread. OK I just admitted that I have
been potentially wasting bandwidth and disk space somewhere. But this
newsgroup has succeeded in giving me a total crash course, maintaining
my interest throughout instead of me perhaps getting so frustrated
along the way that I would perhaps have deemed the project too
consuming to continue with it in any practical sense... after all,
this project is really ultimately a hobby for me, as I am really
deeply involved in a lot of other stuff in my life. I think it is a
worthy project though, because it has been so educational. I now know
a lot of very practical things which enhance my understanding of
computers overall, and computers I find perennially facinating. Also I
am aware that newsgroup postings get archived for posterity, and I
feel that not only would anyone interested like I am potentially
benefit by following my chronicle but at the very least, the bottom
line is that I have had a lot of fun with my contributions, and
judging by the very lively and informative responses to my postings,
it looks like a fair number of people are into this. No one is under
pressure to post a message to a newsgroup like this, right?
Everywhere you look, it's all Science...
