A simple STARTUP program selector is available on 'Cabi. It lets you
cursor through and select programs to launch. You add program names and
optional descriptions as DATA statements. Directions are included in REM
statements at the start of the program. The STARTUP includes an option to
exit to the Applesoft prompt or to ProDOS. The file name is
SelectorSTARTUP.shk.
For DOS 3.3, a HELLO on 'Cabi offers features similar to the above.
The file name is SelectorHELLO.shk.
There is also a IIgs ProDOS STARTUP selector which shows time and
speed. The file name is SPEEDGS.SHK.
You can find all three at ...
ftp://apple.cabi.net/pub/applegs/Applications/ .
As for moving piles of DOS 3.3 programs to 3.5" diskette, there is no
good way to do this except for converting the programs to run under ProDOS.
From time to time someone will mention AMDOS or some similar 3.5" 'DOS
3.3'. Assuming you take care not to include any programs which do direct
writes (i.e. circumvent DOS commands and write directly to the disk), you
still have the problem of moving files to an AMDOS disk and managing them
once they are present. You can find AMDOS on the A2-Caltech archive at ...
ftp://apple2.caltech.edu/pub/apple2/8bit/utils/ .
