Re: GET Apple II OS from internet

You might also find the person or persons who developed a PC cassette tape
emulator for use with the Atari 2600 Supercharger, which uses sound storage
based closely on that of the II (in fact, the development tools for the
Supercharger ran on the II and wrote straight out the cassette port). I
remember hearing about this a few years ago; it could read the original
binaries intended for the Supercharger's RAM and turn them straight into the
requisite bleeps and screeches to be downloaded to an actual 2600. I should
see if a Mac version ever came out, since I still have a Supercharger and a
2600 to plug it into. Nowadays most people would probably just use an emulator,
but it's probably still on the web somewhere.

I find it amusing that "WAV file" has become synonymous with digital audio
storage; you couldn't really pick a lamer, less portable format to standardise
on. Even Microsoft knows that, apparently.
