Thanks Charlie,
After much head scratching and web searching it seems that the older
XILINX Parallel III cable I purchased is not compatible with some
newer hardware. Searching the internet gives no clear answer why but I
think it may have something to do with voltages.
Anyway, back to ebay again to buy yet another cable...what a pain. I
was thinking to get one of the Chinese replica USB cables this time.
Price seems ok at $50 (plus $6 shipping). Just a question of
compatibility again. Even though the ebay pages say 100% compatible,
it's never a given.
If shipping to Japan for the $12 Diligent cable wasn't $30+, I'd
certainly go for that option as you have proved that this cable works.
