I've encountered quite a bit of information about migrating a IIgs motherboard
to a PC tower case. A worthy project, especially for the advantages of the
more robust power supply.
But has anyone experimented with a move in the opposite direction? I'm trying
to mount a PC motherboard in an enhanced IIe case, and would appreciate some
advice.
First, where can I find a useful cooling solution? I don't want heat building
up, of course, but when I get the PC power supply mounted in the box, the fan
will only move the air around inside the case. I seem to remember something
about an external fan from Kensington for IIe's, but I don't know where I might
find one.
Second, has there ever been a circuit designed, even prototyped, to make an
adapter for the AY-3600 keyboard decoder to work with a PC keyboard BIOS? It's
a stretch, I know, but I'd like to be able to use the IIe's keyboard with my PC
motherboard. Any EE geniuses want to take this up? :)
I should be using an external SCSI tower, so the hard drives/CD-ROMs aren't a
problem. I'll even use an old floptical drive, if I have to, to avoid cutting
up the case.
I'm sure there are other Issues(sic) to be dealt with that I haven't yet
considered. Any advice (other than "don't profane the IIe like that!") would
really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
