can't read dos format

Hi... I'm using a pc with windows 98, & I recently sent some artwork files on
a zip disk to a local newspaper who use the Mac. They said they couldn't read
the disk because it is formatted in dos, and told me to format the disk for
windows. I'd like to know what the difference is. Also, I'm getting the
software program Conversions Plus, and was wondering if anyone has experience
with this program and could tell me how well it works. Thanks, Greg
