Huh? My world isn't quite round today ...
File compare shows the two files differ at offset $0c30.
But if I use Basic.system and "bload /hd2/sen0404.doc,tbin,a$1000"
the differing byte pattern shows up at 00/1c00 - not 00/1c30 where I expected!
What happened to the $30 bytes? Or why is File Compare off by $30 bytes?
Or where did basic.system toss the $30 bytes? Or ...
Anyway, to test my missing byte theory I did the following in basic.system
and the monitor.
bload /hd2/sen0404.doc,tbin,a$1001,l$4e00
1000<1001.1c00m
1c00:00
create /hd1/sen0404.doc,tbin
bsave /hd1/sen0404.doc,tbin,a$1000,l$4e00
then copied the file from /hd1 to a HFS floppy and sneakernet'd over
the MacG3. Word would NOT open this version of the file at all. I even
then changed to creator/type to MSWD/WSBN and tried again. No go, same
refusal alert from Word.
Back to the drawing board. Shall we try blaming this on Microsoft? ;-)
Thanks,
