I believe that CRL has extended there coverage out to Sacramento. That is
the service that I used when I lived in Vallejo and it is the service that
Joe Kohn still uses today. Another possibility, is to check with the local
library or university to see if they offer a public service. Our local
library offers us a free shell account with free email, gopher, www, news,
etc.
