That is debatable. None of us can say for sure one way or the other
although most of us suspect that he tried to kill the Apple II because
the Mac was his baby.

Actually, no he didn't. At least, not directly if he even had any
knowledge that it was happenning. The legal department of Apple
Australia allowed the Apple II manuals to me made available on the
Internet and I think that means they can only be made available
legally from a web server on Australian soil.
This is a few more points that can be difficult to prove.
