Re: Tell Charles Turley what you want-- iMac

CUTjefbla@bconnex.net post the following reply to my post as follows;

>Did he promote and market the Apple II series very well from the start to the
>end of their commercial sales, as best he was allowed to under all
>circumstances taken into consideration?

>>That is debatable. None of us can say for sure one way or the other
although most of us suspect that he tried to kill the Apple II because
the Mac was his baby.<<

It's all debatable Jeff. I have my thoughts on it and you have yours
like everybody else - some thing he did and some think he didn't.
I guess there's only one sure way to know -> email him and ask!

>Has he resently allowed ALL of the Apple II manuals to be made available
>FREELY on the Internet in both text and html format - via a certain web site
in
>Australia?

>>Actually, no he didn't. At least, not directly if he even had any
knowledge that it was happenning. The legal department of Apple
Australia allowed the Apple II manuals to me made available on the
Internet and I think that means they can only be made available
legally from a web server on Australian soil.<<

You used the word 'me' I conclude you ment the word as 'be'??
If not...then I didn't realize YOU had anything to do with the IIgs and other
A2 manuals being made available from Terry's web site. Perhaps reviewing
Terry's posts on these matters to this newsgroup might clarify things
concerning this - or you could just email him for the FACTS on it.

My perception on any company that allows anything to be made available as such
would certainly have the concent and be known about from the company CEO - be
he an Interum CEO or otherwise. True only the australian site hasd
authorization to make all of the manuals for anything from Apple for the Apple
II series available to public access via that website - but, in my email
contacts with the web site Adm. (Terry)
he did state that other sites should and mostly could also have premission and
authority from Apple to make any and ALL of the A2 maunals available for public
access - if they asked!

I'd give it a go myself on my own web site - if Apple gave me premission to do
it. But, I don't have the space available. My website is close to 100 MB's
already and I have no more room to spare. And, I don't have the time or
motivation to undertake such a effort now wither.

Perhaps others might ask Apple and do something constructive like Terry did in
this respect to make other old and rare A2 manuals available to the public via
their own websites and/or even certain online services that
are devoted to the support of the Apple II - FREELY.

Just a wish and a thought - perhaps others will. Time will tell.

<<This is a few more points that can be difficult to prove.>>

Not really, a couple of emails to the proper persons could prove it all.
Wanna go for it? I don't think it would be that difficult to prove.

Cheers,
Tom
