USB revisited

Every minute I think about it, I think someone should look at
implementing USB for the Apple II. Just some ideas:

* The Intel 8x930Hx is based on the 80251 which is a direct descendant
of the 8051. The controller everyone grew up on. It is easy to
interface with the Apple II expansion bus. The 8x930Hx can use its
other I/O pins to interface directly to the A2 bus and it has a 256K
address space which can be used a USB buffer.

* Linksys now makes a 10/100 Ethernet USB device which would give the
Apple II ethernet for the first time.

* the UUSBD project for Linux could give a wealth of driver source to
  draw from in writing software

Where are the EE people in this group? :)
