Vendors will often change and modify for cost reasons. They will get
one out and continually try to find ways to reduce cost even though they
perform exactly the same. Now you will probably find that each circuit
board is a different revision unto themselves. You might even find a
number on the inside of the casing. I have seen this with other
products such as Super Mario Bros for the NES. One has standard parts
such as ROMs and TTL chips the other has that black goop that plasters
the chip (not standard) to the board. Evidently it is cheaper with that
goop. They both have the same port number though.
