Not applicable on a grey IIe since the name is silkscreened on.

: You can adapt the current IIe case for the IIGS motherboard.

I'd consider that method a last resort, after I tried to find a real upgrade
kit and given up. At one of the local dealer's "garage sales" way back, I got
a never used upgrade kit still in the box, complete aside from the logic
board, for $1. You also could try the normal used hardware mail order places
and possibly turn one up.

A few years back Steve Buggie also set me up with a never used, still in box
//e case top meant for people upgrading the early style //e's whose case tops
don't fit the upgrade bottom part. So I can build a //e that looks like it
just came out of the box one of these days should I choose to.

: First thing, desolder the power and keyboard connectors from the
: IIe and solder them into the IIGS ROM 01 motherboard. Next,
: use a dremel tool to cut out openings in the IIe base pan for the
: IIGS ports. Then you are ready to attach the motherboard to the
: IIe base pan.

Should you choose this route, also not that the plastic standoffs won't line
up with the holes in a IIgs logic board, and are the wrong shape.
