Re: Looking for IIe-IIgs conversion kit
I wrote a magazine article for JUICED.GS called "HARDWARE-HACKING THE
STEALTH-GS." about making this conversion. I've done three so far.
Also, Steve Townsend of Tacoma WA (whom I met in person in Aug 98) also
does this conversion. But we do HACKSAW-HACKING; we must cut through the
IIe back panel to do it.
Possibly the factory-version of the conversion kit is available from
Shreve Systems of Louisiana. The factor version of course looks
more elegant.
I'd do the conversion to a IIe casing for you for $20.00 plus return
shipping, and if I get to keep the empty IIgs original box-style CPU
casing. (I'd use the box-style casing to install a Bugg-Power supply ---
see my recent posting on this network about it.)
If you want a paper copy of my magazine article, mention your postal
address and I will send it.
Yes, the stealth-GS is great. I don't care what anyone else says --- the
IIe keyboard "feel" is still my favorite! Steve Buggie
