To answer your questions:
-'Check disk drive', this is normal without a boot disk.
-Yes, you need a boot disk. Its OS is Apple DOS. You can get a disk image
from the
Apple Asimov site. The problem is, to transfer it you need a transfer
program, (I use
ap2222pc also at the Asimov site), but that also needs a boot disk. You
need to aquire one.
-You can program it with Apple basic, (Applesoft and Integer which comes on
a boot disk),
Also Pascal with a Pascal disk. You can also do machine as it is.
*Basically to get started you need a boot disk. Just one. Once you have
that you can get
everthing else you need from the Asimov site.
