Need help finding two great apple2 games from my youth!
Ah... those were the days!
... then again, if I were actually *living* those days again now,
I probably wouldn't think so... [ :) ],
but then I guess thats how it goes -- you remember the GOOD things.
<grin>
Case in point, my appleII (which was actually a franklin apple2
compatible with a very small "green screen" monitor, but did I
complain?) which ran two games which I can't find on the net
anywhere!!
Unfotunately, I don't even remember the names, but I *can* describe
them,
and I am just dying to find one, which I seem to remember was
*quite inventive*, and different from any game since then!
Description: You had a balloon which few through space(!), to
different
planets. And while this game had many eliments of stragety to it,
I distinctly remember an arcade type sequence where you had to catch
"bobbles" for food/fuel. You would do so in a space suit. Also, you
got <... well, something! Money, score, etc) by trading different
things
with different planets, ESPECIALLY MUSIC which you, through the game
made!
(Very simple music, yes...)
Frankly, I think that some of the ideas in this game "kicked butt",
and I would like to see if it was half as good as I remembered it.
Disclaimer: Yes, I am looking for to play this on an emulator, and
yes,
I did pay full $ for the software when it first came out (as with all
of these).
Possible titles include: Space Balloon, and Hotair Balloon.
Does anyone know what this game was called?
Did it come out for any other computers? (c64 for example?)
In the second game, you were a trucker. On the way, you would
get gas, eat at such&such diner, sleep, and type in "pick up
hitchhiker"
at certain points. Its highlights include a very neat little tune
which played when you delivered goods.
Finally, one adventure game I -DID- find was "wilderness". Bad news
is, I forgot how to play it! (I do remember typing "kill rattlesnake"
alot as a kid). So... does anyone have a manual? Because if not,
I might just do the apple2 community a favor, and search in my garage
till I can find the actual game -- then scan it in! Any takers?
Side questions:
1. If I bought an Apple2gs, would it run basically all apple2
software?
2. What is the easiest way to transfer files from apple2 to pc?
Thanks in advance for -***any***- questions answered or suggestions
offered!!
