Re: IIe no-slot-clock:

 Dr. Buggie chanted almost zenlike:

BUE(| This is a topic I've brought up previously. The No-Slot-Clock
     | (NSC) in my flagship IIe quit, so I replaced the whole unit.
     | These units were expensive and are no longer available. I am
     | determined to figure out how to replace its battery!

Okay, having replied to this question a few times already....

The NSC is a Dallas Semiconductors model DS1216C, meaning it is still
available through the likes of Jameco. Not a cheap part, unfor-
tunately, but I'm told that the same part is used in payphones and that
linemen carry bags of them around. :)

The battery is a tiny lithium thing (I haven't seen one myself but one
of the locals did some investigation) seated deep within the critter,
and chances are it is not replaceable unless you pull some strings at
the Radio Shack special order desk (if I had a model # I'd tell ya).

Fiddle with the thing if you want to get at the battery (DIG), but yes
the makers of the Smartwatch did intend for you to dispose of it.
Alltech told me that they have stopped supporting the NSC because they
aren't terribly reliable (no way to set the speed like with a Thunder-
clock, anyway; gain or lose some time).
                                                << mush >>
who hasn't had a problem with his NSC in a long time
