You should not have - only the ThunderClock and compatibles use the Apple
driver in P8 with the hard coded table of years.

If you look at www.dalsemi.com and look in the Year 2000 section they have
a letter stating that the DS1216 is Year 2000 Compatible - leap years are
correct until 2099.
It is up to P8 apps to treat 01-JAN-00 as 2000.
