for a winter project, ive decided to setup a hard drive for my //e to start
cataloging all my disks. the //e was acting flaky, so i migrated everything to
my gs. here's the problem now...
my gs is
rom 01
1 meg
disk ][ controller in slot 6
scsi board in slot 5
its all cabled up to an old mac 40 meg drive that is known to work, since it
had system 7 on it.
i can boot the scsi setup disk and i can ID the 40 meg drive. i split it 20 meg
each.
however, i ran the hd test program off the setup disk and it seemed to hang. i
let it run all night and the screen never changed except for a slowly spinning
character
( \ | / -- \ | / --) spinning.
anyway, the partition program shows two 20 meg partitions.
i booted apple system util disk and attempted to format the partitions, but it
wont. program says error, cannot format for unknown reason, and then another
time, the system crashed. when it tries to format, i heard access sounds for
just a moment, so it tries to do something.
scsi ID is set, drive is terminated to a mac external hard drive. connections
are good.
any ideas?
