There should be no problem using the Prodos dosk with your Mac. Prodos
disks have worked for me with every system from 6 to 8.5.1. Also your Mac
should be able to read your MSDOS disks. When I was using my IIGS
regularly (up to a couple of weeks ago) I simply saved the document on a
Prodos disk and used ClarisWorks to open the doc (usually an Appleworks
IIGS) directly with formating.
