System '6.0.2'...in English, a question

I'm toying with the notion of translating the French version of GS/OS
'6.0.2' out there, I realize it is not true Apple release but still...it
seems to have some cool updates and additions to it. Here is a few
questions I have though.
Are there any equivalents of ResEdit out there for the GS? It's such a
huge pain to do all the editing with a Hex editor, especially when they
decide to hide length bytes in wierd locations. Even something which could
a sort of Rez/DeRez thing would be ok.
Secondly, is anyone out there currently trying to do the same thing? I'd
hate to get halfway through a project and then suddenly find out that 3
other people have been doing it as well, which always seems to happen to
me.

Also, does anyone have a good list of the actual changes they made? A lot
of the files which I found in the archive seem like they simply translated
it into french and then incremented the version number. But I can't
actually be sure if they made some small bugfixes by just looking at them.
And occasionally they moved strings around for some reason I can't
understand. Ah well. But if there are some control panels which all they
did is translate it into french from 6.0.1, I'd rather not spend all my
time untranslating it. But if there are differences from the 6.0.1
version, well then...
