I'd like to draw your attention to this bit of (imo) eBay insanity, a
NIB Apple //c sold for $5000 as Buy It Now:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140491871326
The buyer isn't new to collecting (knives), or to the Apple community
(he's a Mac user) -- but does seem to be new to the Apple II retro
(and collecting) communities. He was recently interviewed on
RetroMacCast.
The lessons here are:
1.) When selling something, set the initial price outrageously high --
or even higher than that -- because collectors, speculators, fools and
the ignorant might just fall for it.
2.) You can always lower your price later.
