jG>The regular II/II+ manual had the ROM code as I recall.
The "Red Book" was the original Apple ][ reference manual (8 1/2x11"
format).
The Red Book contains some information that did not get carried over
to the O-Ring version of the "Apple ][ Reference Manual".
- Integer BASIC listings of the various cassette tape programs (in
case you didn't have the tapes).
- Integer BASIC command and program/variable storage descriptions.
(The "Apple ][ BASIC Programming Manual" took the BASIC commands and
presented them in a tutorial form for 1st time programmers. The
"Red Book" was a 'reference manual'.)
- Integer BASIC High-Res graphics machine language subroutine
reference manual. (Including 'shape tables')
- Mini-Assembler, Floating Point, and Sweet-16 source code. Note:
These fuctions were stored in the Integer BASIC ROMS ($F425-$F7FF).
Their source is not included in the "O-Ring" book and the
Mini-Assembler is only briefly mentioned.
- How to use the Game I/O connector as an interface to a teletype
machine.
- What is required to hook up your Apple ][ motherboard. (In the days
before they shipped everything in a case.)
I even have a copy of the "Blue Book" (very rare). The "Blue Book" is
the "APPLESOFT Reference Manual" [Nov 1977]. APPLESOFT, also known as
'Applesoft I', is not the same as "APPLESOFT II" (the ROM version).
