What discs do I need to start a Apple 2e?

Hi,
A friend of mine has just picked up a 2e from a car boot sale and when you
power it up it displays the title page so it is working. It has a disc drive
but no monitor. What discs do I need to get it running and where can I get
them from. Its many years since I had a brief sojourn with 2e's!
