    Nope, it does not. "ROM 3" is just the version number of the
firmware, and that is not printed on the masked ROMs, let alone
anywhere on the motherboard. The official name for the machine
is "The Apple IIgs with 1 Megabyte of RAM", though the only ID
markings is a different Apple part number and obvious visable
differences on the board (I could tell a ROM 00/01 and 3 board
apart from several few away).

    Yep, or look at the ROM and RAM chips (a pair of ROMs and
eight 1MBx1 chips above it, instead of one ROM and four 64Kx4
chips). Also, the ROM 3 board has "Apple IIgs" silk screened
on it, while the ROM 00/01 has "APPLE //GS".
