Re: weird apple bus card and other issues
Ok, I know this isn't exactly the right place, but the mention of old
computers got me thinking...
Is there anyone out the with an Apple Lisa that doesn't hold onto it for
dear life? I mean, I know that they do fall into a sort of collectible
area, expecially the lisa 1, but some of the things I've seen are absurd.
Someone selling a Lisa for $1500 when it's not even in usable condition,
or someone that has 25 Lisas that they got from somewhere and are holding
on for their great 'value'. I mean, I guess...it just seems sort of...ah,
never mind.
It's just such a pain because me and several other people are working on a
Lisa emulator (fine, yes, mock us if you will) and we've actually gotten a
lot done, but only one of us has a Lisa and he's the farthest away. I've
looked high and low for a even slightly working Lisa 2 and the attitude I
get for the most part (there are some very nice people, I must admit, but
none with surplus Lisas) is that I'm not a serious collector or that I
need to be willing to really spend spend spend. And forget even trying to
find, say, a ProFile or a Lisa 1. That's just hopeless. Anyway, I guess
the point of this (though it's replying to something unrelated and will
probably get only minimally read) is that is there anyone out there with
an extra Lisa or 2, and a charitable heart? Being a college student, I'm
one who has very little money. I mean, I can thrift store hunt, but that
has yielded nothing Lisa yet, and I just don't have the resources to go
eBay'ing. (And I have yet to find one of these veritable heavens where I
go see some old college or business with a basement full of Lisas throwing
them away or selling them dirt cheap)
Thanks...
Oh yeah, and if you feel like it, go look at http://emulation.net/lisaworks/
(One wonders if there is a great dislike of emulation by many people...sigh.>
