Well, I'm not entirely sure what "mix rate" is but if it is what I'm
assuming it is then it has no correlation to the low pass filter on
the audio output.

The low pass filter is to kill all the high frequencies that we humans
can't hear.  If they were left in the audio output they would just
result in distorting the sound a bit.  Much better to remove them to
get the cleanest possible sound.

"Mix rate", if it is what I think it is, is how fast the sounds can be
mixed together by the audio hardware.  After all, we are trying to mix
the audio output of 30 oscillators into 1 or 2 channels.  How this
would affect the audio output, I'm not sure as I've never encountered
this phrase before so haven't had time to think about it.  :-)
