Okay here's the pinout that I use.

Here's how I refer to the pin numbers

9 pins(WHILE LOOKING AT THE PIN SIDE! NOT THE SIDE THAT YOU INSERT THE
WIRES IN!)

5 pins(The same! While looking at the side that goes in the apple not
the side that the wires come out of!)

Connect the wires like this

Now try it

Notice:This is already nullmodemed-you don't need an adaptor. All I
use is a straight serial cable connected through this to the apple2
